AIT Director Meets KMT Legislators on U.S.-Taiwan Defense Cooperation

🔹U.S. Senators Roger Wicker (R-MS) and Deb Fischer (R-NE) visited Taiwan on August 29-30, 2025, as part of a broader Indo-Pacific tour. They met with President Lai Ching-te, Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim, and other senior officials to discuss U.S.-Taiwan relations, regional security, trade, and investment.
The visit highlighted the United States’ commitment to its partnership with Taiwan and a shared dedication to a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
🔹On the 80th anniversary of World War II’s end, we honor the Flying Tigers, an American volunteer group who joined the Republic of China Air Force to fight fascism. Their sacrifices forged a lasting bond of friendship and freedom.
Earlier this year, I attended the funeral of Captain John Sun Chu, the last Flying Tiger, who passed at 102. His legacy, along with efforts by The Flying Tiger Museum in Hualien, reminds us of our shared commitment to peace and security. — AIT Director Raymond Greene
